Riding is more fun on a well maintened motorcycle. Follow these instructions to maintain your KDF bike in top condition.
Starting Procedures
When the bike haven`t been use for a while, the engine is cold. To start the engine`s bike, pull off the choke level and crank the kick start without touching the gas grip. When the engine is started, you have to wait a few second to heat the engine a bit. Then you can twist the gas a bit in the same time as release the choke lever.
If the engine is hot, crank the bike and give a little bit of gas in the same time.
If your bike still dosen`t start, look if the spark plus is black. If she is, clean it with carburator cleaner, and put it back in place. If the bike still don t start, change the spark plug.
Suspension
We recomand that you adjust your forks and rear shock before riding. Set them for your weight and riding level.
Forks:
Step One: Turn the two buttons on the top of your forks anti-clockwise until you reach the minimum setting.
Step Two: Now Start turning the buttons slowly clockwise while counting the "clicks" to ensure that you have the same compression on each side.
N.B. Most riders will adjust their forks from 5 to 9 clicks.
Rear Shock:
Step One: You have to adjust the SAG by turning the big screw on the top of your shock with the special tool that came with your bike. The more you turn it, the higher your bike will be, and stiffer the suspension will get.
Step Two: Turn the little screw on the bottom of your shock anti-clockwise with a flat screw driver to its minimum setting.
Step Tree: Start turning slowly in the opposite direction by counting the "clicks" to adjust the compression. The more you turn it, the higher the compression will be inside the shock, thereby producing less rebound.
Changing the Oil
Change the engine oil for every 7 hours of riding. We recommend that you use 10W40 synthetic oil.
To prevent any possible damage to your KDF bike, don't forget to check all your bolts every time you change the oil.
Air Filter
We recommend that you clean the air filter frequently to help preserve your engine.
Step One: Remove the air filter.
Step Two: Clean the air filter with a recommended product. Don't use gas or strong thinner, since it can damage your air filter.
Step Tree: Let your filter dry out completely, the spray or apply air filter oil evenly. Don't use too much oil, or your engine will run too rich for a while.
Step Four: Put your oiled filter back in place.
Chain
Oil your chain after every ride with a recommended oil. Don't forget to check your chain tension frequently.
Tires
Before Riding, make sure that your tires have the right pressure (approximately 22pounds).
Gas
For maximum engine performance, use high octane gas only.
